For contracts drafted as of July 1, 2015, a new law took effect providing that subcontractors are no longer able to waive their mechanic’s liens and bond rights prior to starting their work. To a general contractor, this is an important change that will probably require rewrites of the GC’s contracts. Please consult an attorney and request revisions based on § 11-4.1:1.
